  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for retail management; or equivalent education/training or experience
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with retail management
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the retail industry
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals
  • Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in retail management demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work and meet deadlines under strict time constraints
  • Ability to work beyond normal work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to travel to various campuses and locations covered under the UH system
  • Some experience in retail in a post-secondary educational bookstore or library
  • Experience with supervising and managing a staff of five or more employees
  • Experience with computerized inventory or database systems and cash register systems
