Agents often work nights and weekends to help sell property including operating an open house for those to see after work and in their spare time. In return for this service, the Real Estate Agents take a percentage of the selling price when the home is sold.

In order to be a successful Real Estate Agent, it’s important to be independent and able to manage their own time and schedules. Interpersonal skills are needed to work with their clients face-to-face on a daily basis, listening to their needs and communicating effectively. Negotiation is key when closing the deal on a home, whether it’s with the buyer, seller, or third party agent to get the right price on a home. Lastly, problem-solving skills are a must when they are asked to find the answer to questions quickly. In order to sell a home, the Real Estate Agent needs to be knowledgeable and helpful every step of the way, even if they don’t know the answer right away, they should know how to find the answer quickly.

If applying for a Real Estate Agent position, your resume should include your average number of homes listed and sold as well as the amount of clients you helped find a home for them to purchase. Negotiation also helps you make more money for yourself and the company you work for, so be sure to include deals you got for your client as well as for your company. Include the tools you used to advertise a listing such as your website, MLS, social media, and many more. Lastly, you may have won awards for your efforts in Real Estate, so be sure to bring up an accommodations you received.
