  • Troubleshoots connectivity/interface issues between systems
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Troubleshoot and resolves user workstation hardware/software problems
  • Installs network equipment and troubleshoots and resolves problems as necessary
  • Assists in security maintenance of the Seattle Proton Centers network and confidential SPC/patient data
  • Provide support per request from various users. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created as necessary
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers in a VMware environment and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • Acts as a center of expertise for SPC staff to leverage clinical systems to meet patient care and research goals
  • Recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
  • Work directly with security vendors in a partnership for security initiatives
  • Take steps to gain better understanding of security best practices and apply to the centers environment
  • 2 years’ experience designing, implementing, interfacing and supporting computer/network systems in a healthcare environment preferably
  • Minimum of two (2) years training and supporting staff in a clinical environment
  • Experience with VMWare including vCenter, vSphere and View
  • Experience with Windows server/ infrastructure
  • Knowledge of web-based applications and web technologies
  • Knowledge of application security principles. Working knowledge of information security practices and HIPAA requirements
  • Knowledge of Citrix XenApp administration
  • System health monitoring best practices
  • Knowledge of backup and retention technology, preferably with EMC Avamar
  • Understanding of network and telephony technologies and equipment (preferably Cisco)
  • Understanding of storage area networks, preferably EMC
  • Windows Active Directory experience including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, etc
  • Experience troubleshooting remote access problems, supporting remote users
  • Knowledge of clinical information systems
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Previous experience in a health care environment preferred
