An Assistant Buyer helps and assists buyers in all buying and assortment activities. This entry-level position is the gateway to becoming a buyer in the fashion industry. This job position requires you to have an eye product assortment, trend, and color. An assistant buyer partners with all cross-functional teams including designers, financial planners, operations, and allocators.
Assistant Buyers assist buyers with developing business strategies and seasonal assortment plans to maximize the development of the sales, profits, and the company’s brand. The Assistant Buyer identifies seasonal trend, areas of opportunity, and recommends new products or concepts to drive sales and represent the best the brand has to offer to customers.
Buyers work closely with Design, Inventory Management, Sourcing, Production, Packaging and Creative Services to ensure the process is followed and timelines are met. The Assistant Buyer handles working with store planners to ensure maintenance of promotional and visual signage (new, specials, markdowns) and coordinate production of in-store collateral and product information binders. They attend and participate in Design meetings to help the Buyers shape seasonal product assortment in both short and long term merchandising objectives for the business while focusing on growth opportunities and operational efficiencies. Additional responsibilities include tracking of seasonal samples, presenting to buyers and higher level of management, tracking store allocated shipment, and organizing samples in the sample closet.
