- Advanced knowledge of equipment, medications, and supplies used in the Cardiac Cath Lab and an expert ability to set-up, operate, and troubleshoot this equipment and understanding of waveforms from the great vessels and all chambers of the heart including the ability to recognize and distinguish normal from abnormal, artifact from abnormality, and forewarn the physician of an impending life-threatening situation
- Patient appointment scheduling, Consult tracking documentation, patient pre-procedure instructions and post-procedure education
- Performs regular exercise testing, which includes graded maximal stress testing with Nuclear Imaging, cardiopulmonary stress testing, and stress echocardiography
- Performs pharmacologic stress testing with nuclear imaging or echocardiography
- Performs holter monitor procedures, scans data and generates a report for further evaluation by the physician
- Prepares and monitors patient during transesophogeal echocardiogram
Qualifications for rn-cardiac
- Bachelors or higher degree from an accredited Professional School of Nursing
- Minimum 2-5 years experience in CCU/ICU, coronary step-down units or Cardiac Rehab Program
- Knowledge/course work in exercise physiology and C/PR physiology its application for various patient groups
- Be familiar with pulmonary disease and/or pulmonary rehabilitation preferred
- A recent graduate who has completed pre-licensure nursing program typically within the last 12 months and/or less than 12 months of direct patient care experience required and/or acute care nursing experience preferred
