  • Provides advice and tools to leadership to help them further develop their communication skills
  • Works with Hydraulic Group executives, MOPs, and plant managers to create and refine talking points, articles, blogs, presentations, etc. Serves as a key counselor, trainer and coach to these leaders
  • Issues Management: Proactively identify issues and potential crises. Develop and implement strategies for managing them. Counsels and advises business unit on managing communications issues
  • Media/ Public Relations: Develop and implement group-wide and division-specific strategic Media Relations, Public Relations and Social Media plans that support business goals, increase employee engagement, facilitate change and raise awareness of Eaton. Coordinates media relations efforts for the business. Oversees and participates in the preparation of written materials such as news releases, briefing materials, holding statements and Q&A documents and serves as a key spokesperson for the Group. Responsible for reporting on results of key external campaigns. Provides message training and spokesperson preparation. Manages group strategic sponsorships and partnerships. Partners with the Marketing Communications team on external campaigns
  • Manage communications supplier and consultant relationships to enhance the value of the relationships to Eaton and lead the search/select process when appropriate
  • Demonstrate fiscal accountability in budgets and cost-benefit analysis of communications activities
  • Sets Group wide communications policies consistent with corporate policy; ensure group adherence to all communications policies, philosophies and processes. Define processes for standard work in the function. Make best practices transferrable across the enterprise
  • Ensures alignment with and understanding of brand standards while fostering creativity
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a communications professional is required. This must include broad-reaching responsibilities in internal and external communications working in a corporation or via a combination of agency and corporate experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications/journalism/business or other relevant field from an accredited institution
  • Master’s degree communications/journalism/business or other relevant field
  • Accreditation in Public Relations or a similar field
  • Crisis communications management: Ability to: anticipate potential crises; develop and implement crisis communications plans and procedures; respond to urgent and threatening situations; apply experience; immediately mobilize and deploy resources
  • Issues management: Ability to: anticipate emerging issues that have the potential to impact revenue or reputation; reconcile differences in internal opinions on how to respond to issues; persuade others of the need for action; devise and lead response plans
  • Knowledge of new communications technology: Successful experience with new digital media tools and social media techniques and understands their role in reaching strategic business objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills: Ability to synthesize complex information; understand the needs and interests of target audiences; define and articulate messages; generate effective and compelling content for a variety of vehicles (news releases, articles, Q&A documents); create and edit copy; develop and deliver effective presentations
  • Knowledge of graphic design and production: Understanding of graphic design including composition, color, imagery, motion, and sound across the spectrum of communications vehicles and successful experience with the production processes for those vehicles
  • Knowledge of communications theory and practice: Understanding of communications as a two-way process and its use in influencing perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors; broad exposure to and understanding of the integrated disciplines of the communication function (i.e. media relations, employee communications, branding and corporate identity, financial communications, marketing communications, community relations); ability to provide communications counsel to the company’s leaders
  • Project management skills: Ability to lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects according to established processes; serve as a consultant for internal and external customers
