- Manage lower level professionals on HSE activities on large-scale Total Installed Cost (TIC) projects; duties may include the calculation and control of HSE budgets, staffing requirements and schedules; preparation of certification/classification programs and the preparation of the supporting HSE documents; direct studies to obtain technical environmental information about planned projects, coordination and execution of safety cases and support studies; Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA); Process Hazard Analyses (PHA); Fire Protection Specifications (FPS) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) as required by certification or regulatory entities

- Responsible for monitoring work operations to ensure that safe work practices are being followed by all employees, subcontractors, researchers, and any contractor working on the site. The supplier will immediately stop any activity that has an imminent safety risk. Supplier personnel will monitor that all IBM Safety, Health, Fire, Chemical and operating procedures are being followed in the field
- Ensure that all contractors and subcontractors are qualified and safety certified to perform work on IBM premises

- Responsible for all aspects of managing the IBM confined space program at the TJ Watson Research Center. The program shall cover all aspects of confined space safety for entries by employees and their subcontractors

- Manage the Hot Work program for work involving welding, torch cutting, open flames, grinding or other operation that generates a potential ignition source. The Safety engineer will maintain a written process and utilize forms supplied by IBM
- Fire services and fire protection system support. Manage required testing of Fire Pump, Sprinkler Systems, Kitchen Systems, CO2 Systems, E-Lights, Sprinkler valves, Hydrants, and Fire Department connections. Manage and track these tasks through the Maintenance system
- Responsible for maintaining the site Radio system including equipment calibration, radio repeaters, towers, transmitters and coordination with radio contractors
- Maintain the CISCO Worker Down computer system. Maintain the individual pendants and system infrastructure. Perform periodic testing of the worker down system to ensure operation
- Will be a medical first responder on site that has the following minimum training - First Aid, CPR, AED, Emergency oxygen and blood borne pathogens
- Responsible to report all medical incidents through the trouble report system ensuring that all HIPA requirements are met. Maintain hard copies of all IBM medical incident reports

- Will be Hazardous Materials Technician level trained as defined in 1910.120 (e) up to Hazmat level B PPE during the work hours of 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM Monday through Friday
- The safety engineer will provide oversight and direction to the Safety Technician to ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with that section of the scope of work and to support any site safety tasks as appropriate
