This includes, but is not limited to electrical distribution equipment, motor installations, HVAC/related controls, lighting systems, telecommunication systems, telephone and auxiliary equipment
  • Perform maintenance, repair, replacement of electrical systems and related equipment. This includes distribution components, motors and controls, lighting and controls, HVAC and controls, telecommunication systems and components
  • Perform planned and preventative maintenance, inspection, and testing of electrical systems and their related components. This includes panels, disconnects, motors, starters, switches, devices, wiring, fixtures, etc
  • Develop records of performed maintenance and future scheduled services
  • Respond to electrical related emergencies which may include after-hours response in order to meet university, departmental, or customer needs
  • Estimate labor and material costs
  • Interpret design layout from blueprints/drawings and inspect for code compliance
  • Work in conjunction with other trades such as plumbers, HVAC, technicians, telecommunications techs, project managers, etc. to complete assigned work
  • Act as lead or assist skilled and/or unskilled staff when needed
  • Act as temporary supervisor in absence of maintenance supervisor when needed
  • Learn, apply, and demonstrate how to enter personal living spaces with an awareness/enforcement of privacy and discretion for residents and guests
  • Developing awareness/enforcement of student/guest behavior expectations, identifying “red flags” such as alcohol, drugs, firearms, unhealthy living conditions, etc
  • Remind residents of personal safety (locking doors/windows, unpropping exit doors, etc.)
  • Participate in appropriate social interactions with residents and guests and be aware of their personal space, using appropriate communication and providing programmatic support
  • Clean-up after work is completed
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment and safety procedures for the above tasks
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of critical parts for equipment
  • Request replacement parts using information from equipment cut sheets, blueprints, trade manuals, and catalogs
  • Provide written documentation of parts shortages and work in progress to supervisor
  • Maintain and service emergency equipment such as gas powered pumps and generators
  • Move, transport, stock materials, and tool necessary for the completion of tasks
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, equipment, and materials in a professional manner to promote safe and efficient completion of tasks
  • Respond to electrical, plumbing and heating related emergencies, which may include after-hours response from normal daily work schedule in order to meet university, department, or customer needs
  • Attend all required/recommended training/classes/seminars provided by HDS to accomplish the above, which includes ethics, safety, diversity, communication, BBP, and any applicable training in providing the best customer service, etc
  • Maintain an active State of Colorado Journeyman’s license
  • Develop professional skills and communication to effectively interact with live in residents and guests
  • Attend all meetings, committees, and department sponsored functions
  • Enter work time and leave requests into designated software systems
  • Comply with Housing and Dining Facilities Handbook, university departmental procedures and policies
