Wendy Horton, MBA, PharmD, FACHE, is the Senior Vice President and President of Adult Services at UCSF Health, one of the top 10 hospitals in the United States. A nationally recognized healthcare leader, she has built her career around advancing strategic growth, operational excellence, and patient-centered care while maintaining a deep commitment to serving communities and improving health outcomes.


She is dedicated to enhancing healthcare quality and driving innovation by strengthening care delivery systems and leveraging technology to foster collaboration between patients and care teams. With a background in clinical pharmacy and extensive leadership experience in major academic medical centers, she has earned recognition for combining clinical expertise with strong operational and strategic leadership to achieve lasting organizational improvements.

Before joining UCSF Health, she served as CEO of UVA Health University Medical Center and System COO of UVA Health, a $4.5 billion health system employing more than 17,000 team members and 1,200 faculty in Charlottesville, Virginia. During her five-year tenure, she led significant statewide expansion efforts through partnerships and acquisitions, broadening access to care and strengthening system integration. Under her leadership, the organization doubled in size, introduced workforce programs such as an "earn-while-you-learn" initiative, and enhanced its population health efforts. She also fostered a culture of safety, transparency, and open communication through listening sessions, town halls, and clinical rounds while reducing reliance on travel nurses by over 75%.

Previously, she served as Chief Administrative Officer at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, part of a $4 billion academic health system. She improved faculty engagement, shortened physician recruitment time by 81%, implemented a $340 million compensation plan, and increased research funding by 28.4% to $269.4 million. Earlier in her career, she worked at the University of Wisconsin, serving as Vice President of Operations, where she oversaw the completion of a new hospital and managed professional, business, and support services.
