Roy Gagaza

Roy served more than four years in the U.S. Army Reserve before completing 20 years of active duty as an Armor Officer. Airborne and Ranger qualified, he served as a Tank Platoon Leader with the 1st Armored Division during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His career later took him to South Korea as a Troop Commander, while additional responsibilities included preparing Army units for deployment during Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. His combat service earned him the Bronze Star.

Roy began planning his transition into financial services while he was still serving in the Army, applying his background in Business Marketing to a growing passion for financial education. Even during a year-long deployment to Kuwait in 2004, he continued developing his new career by meeting clients and conducting educational seminars. He also pursued the Certified Estate Planner and Registered Financial Consultant designations before completing his military career and retiring in 2008.

Roy leads Journey Wealth Management, offering services in retirement planning, investment and wealth management, tax planning, health care strategies, and legacy and estate planning. His dedication to serving clients has resulted in notable industry recognition, including induction into the Advisors Excel Hall of Fame and annual Elite Advisor Awards since 2018. His achievements also include Security Benefit Elite Advisor Awards and the Allianz Century Award for reaching $100 million in premiums.

Roy uses the discipline and adaptability developed in the military to help clients prepare for retirement and the unexpected changes that can occur along the way. He takes time to understand each client's vision before creating strategies intended to protect assets, develop meaningful income streams, and support evolving goals. For Roy, financial planning is an ongoing partnership built around preparation, communication, trust, and a shared commitment to helping clients confidently pursue their desired futures.

Roy Gagaza graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing and holds insurance licenses in California and Hawaii. His commitment to serving others continues through support for military veterans, community food banks, animal rescue efforts, and backcountry conservation. He shares his life with Patricia, his wife and business partner, and their family. Outside the office, Roy enjoys traveling, golf, paddleboarding, snorkeling, diving, reading, and spending time in nature.
