Raj Patel

My name is Raj Patel and I am a senior student studying fashion apparel design. It has been a wonderful journey at Columbia College where I feel my dreams accomplished. I am an International student in the bachelor of fashion apparel program. I have been working in the fashion industry for almost 8 years now. I have contributed my design to the Bollywood Industry, however, I believe there is always a place for improvement so here I am. At the age of 25, I landed on the land of dreams, USA to learn and explore the land of fashion! I have worked for celebrities from India and as well as on the International platform. However, there has been an affinity in me towards high street fashion and I have always been inspired by western fashion culture as it was something catching my eye! I love America and the way people dress here, be it casual, fancy, hippie or streetwear. My goal is to become a successful fashion designer but future I want to work for environmental sustainability. I have several ideas about how we can reduce fashion fabric pollution. Fashion being the most polluted industry next after oil is damaging water, animals, earth, plantation and even humans due to fashion toxins evaporating through the chimneys of fashion industry. How can we forget the amount of fabric waste due to fast fashion? The use cheap products that doesn’t even decompose in thousands of years. Imagine what destruction is ahead of us and how we can save it. This is my vision.
