Summary
Quentin Geczy, based in London, attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and later pursued studies at the University of Sydney Medical School for two years. He intends to complete his medical education closer to Europe while also exploring career opportunities in consulting and finance, particularly focusing on healthcare.
While navigating the medical school application process, Quentin remains actively engaged in health and education through research and tutoring. He runs a private education business where he supports students in STEM subjects and helps them through university admissions. Additionally, he is developing an online business providing educational resources for UK high school exams (GCSEs, A-Levels), medical exams (BMAT, UCAT, GAMSAT, MCAT), and the SAT.
After completing high school in Australia, Geczy moved to the United States in 2016 to pursue his interests in science and economics. He earned a Bachelor's in Molecular Cellular Development Biology (MCDB) and Economics from Yale University. At Yale, he developed skills in working with large datasets using R and applying theoretical models to solve complex problems in economics, finance, and accounting.
Quentin’s MCDB studies built upon his pre-med coursework, and his thesis, titled “Psychedelic Renaissance in Psychiatry,” explored how the 5-HT2A receptor’s interaction with psychedelics can promote neuroplasticity. This research has contributed to modern advancements in mental health treatments for conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
His education in both Economics and MCDB has provided Geczy with a well-rounded skill set in analytical reasoning, evidence-based clinical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
Quentin excelled as a Division I Varsity Athlete at Yale, competing in Lightweight Crew. Balancing rigorous academics with athletics taught him discipline, resilience, and leadership, which continue to influence his personal and professional life.
Geczy's interest in medicine started after he suffered a fractured femur in a cycling accident at age 13. Over the years, he faced additional health challenges, including a serious cycling crash that ended his athletic career but solidified his fascination with the medical field.
After graduating from Yale, Quentin attended the University of Sydney Medical School, where he focused on Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and General Surgery. He completed his MD thesis and participated in clinical rotations, gaining experience in Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, and General Practice.
Geczy also contributed to research at Sydney Musculoskeletal Health, co-authoring articles on osteoarthritis treatment. His clinical experience extends to medical institutions in London, Melbourne, and Germany.
For the past five years, he has tutored students in subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, helping them prepare for exams and assisting student-athletes with the college recruitment process. His business has continued to grow, and he maintains strong relationships with clients throughout their university admissions journey.
Fluent in French, German, and English, he holds multiple citizenships. Outside of his academic and professional work, he enjoys staying active through cycling, running, swimming, and skiing. Quentin Geczy continues using his knowledge and skills to impact education, healthcare, and beyond.
