Petro Kostiv

Fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Ukrainian, and conversant in German and Mandarin, Petro embodies a global perspective. He graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley, with a B.A. in history focused on Latin American political and economic development. He later earned an M.A. in political science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School, where he specialized in international and comparative law.

While completing his studies, Petro gained hands-on legal experience at the Supreme Court of Argentina, where he observed constitutional and administrative law in action. His intellectual curiosity extended into aviation, where he earned a B.S. in Aviation and a certificate in U.S. Aviation Law from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. After years of international research and legal work, Petro founded Kostiv & Associates, which has since grown into a multi-office law firm with locations in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Baltimore, and Miami.

Petro’s rare combination of legal and aviation expertise distinguishes his practice. He holds private and commercial pilot licenses, with multiengine and instrument ratings, and is an FAA-certified flight and ground instructor. His advanced training in aviation safety, insurance, and accident investigation enables him to advise clients on matters that demand both technical precision and legal depth, serving aviation professionals, investors, and corporate clients worldwide.

As managing partner, Petro leads his firm with a focus on preparation, discipline, and transparent communication. He lectures internationally on comparative law and aviation regulation, and has developed a course on the U.S. Legal System for the Kiev University of Law. His humanitarian work includes supporting orphanages and disaster recovery efforts across Mexico, El Salvador, and Tanzania.

Today, as president of the Ukrainian American Bar Association, Petro Kostiv continues to promote legal reform and global collaboration. Guided by empathy, leadership, and vision, he remains committed to building bridges between law, education, and humanitarian service.
