Dr. Nishi Patel, M.D., is an accomplished cardiovascular medicine specialist practicing at WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. He is highly regarded for his expertise in advanced heart disease, particularly heart failure and cardiac critical care. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Patel serves as the National Director of Cardiac Imaging for Access Physicians/SOC Telemedicine. Dr. Patel’s academic foundation began at Drexel University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2009, followed by a Doctor of Medicine degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2013. His postgraduate training included an internship and residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, followed by fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease, Advanced Heart Failure, and Transplant Cardiology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology, Echocardiography, Cardiac CT, and Nuclear Cardiology.

At York Hospital, Dr. Patel provides leading-edge heart failure care to critically ill patients, utilizing advanced therapies such as ECMO, Impella, and LVAD, and facilitating heart transplantation when needed. His leadership has helped establish a comprehensive heart failure program, including the development of a specialized clinic for survivors of cardiogenic shock and the implementation of remote monitoring technologies, such as CardioMEMS. He has also introduced virtual/molecular autopsies for sudden death cases, supporting genetic risk assessment for families.

Dr. Patel remains deeply engaged in telemedicine. As National Medical Director of Cardiac Imaging for Access Telecare, he has driven the expansion of cardiac imaging services, particularly in rural areas, ensuring expert care is locally accessible.

He is also an active researcher and educator. Dr. Patel has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications, presented at major national and international conferences, and received the prestigious Zoll Foundation Research Grant to study genomics and sudden cardiac arrest. He serves as Editor-in-Chief for the Cardiology and Cardiac CT sections of StatPearls and as a reviewer for leading journals. Recognized for his dedication to teaching, Dr. Patel is an Associate Professor at Drexel University College of Medicine and a recipient of the Golden Apple Award.

Nishi Patel is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Heart Association and the Heart Failure Society of America, and is actively involved in charitable initiatives that support global health. Outside of medicine, he is a martial arts enthusiast who enjoys Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and outdoor activities.
