Mike Curb

He leads the independent record label he founded over 60 years ago, which remains the oldest independently distributed record company in the United States. His career demonstrates a rare combination of musical achievement and civic responsibility. Through his company, he guided and produced many artists, creating numerous #1 records, including “Candy Man,” “Puppy Love,” “Love Me For A Reason,” “All For The Love Of Sunshine,” and “How Do I Live.” He also composed and produced music for films such as The Wild Angels and Kelly’s Heroes and wrote popular television and commercial themes that became a part of American entertainment history.

His label achieved significant milestones with songs like “You Light Up My Life,” “Oh What A Night,” and “More Than A Memory.” It also helped advance contemporary Christian music, producing GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning projects. His guidance shaped the success of many artists, and his ability to unite creative excellence with strong leadership helped build one of the most respected independent labels in the industry.

In public service, he was elected Lieutenant Governor of California and served as Acting Governor for more than 200 days, addressing significant state issues and emergencies. His commitment to improving lives continued through the Curb Foundation, which supports education, civil rights, homelessness relief, and cultural preservation. He established nationwide colleges, institutes, and centers to promote music, learning, and community growth.

His lifelong accomplishments have been recognized with a GRAMMY Award, stars on the Hollywood and Music City Walks of Fame, and honorary degrees from several universities.
