Summary

I am a graduate of the University of Washington-Seattle with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a minor in Environmental Science and Resource Management. I am a passionate environmental steward with a diverse environmental education background, who also has extensive experience with ecological restoration work, data analysis, and Microsoft software (word, excel, PowerPoint). I am past Washington Conservation Corps crew member, in collaboration with the green Kirkland partnership and AmeriCorps. Through this position, I undertook various habitat restoration projects throughout the city of Kirkland. I have a passion for our natural environment, and I am passionate about teaching and sharing this passion with all generations. I currently intern with the City of Kirkland Public Works department (Stormwater).

Stormwater Field Assistant
City of Kirkland / Kirkland, WA
  • Revise and update dumpster data from around the city of Kirkland, to determine whether city businesses are properly maintaining dumpsters, specifically in relation to dumpsters near storm drains
  • Assist with the monitoring of stream and water quality throughout the city, including mitigation sites, dog waste in parks, and permeable pavement infiltration testing
  • Create GIS story maps for the stormwater team, tracing downstream water paths to schools, for use in educational outreach in the area
  • Research background information for public works outreach, specifically focusing on paint contractors and existing volunteer/citizen science water quality monitoring programs in the region
2019 Oct - 2020 Jan
Ecological Restoration Crew Member
Washington Conservation Corps / Kirkland, WA
  • Completed ecological restoration field work throughout the City of Kirkland’s network of parks and natural spaces, removing 10+ types of invasive species from acres of park, including blackberry, knotweed.
  • Collaborated with the Green Kirkland Partnership on the various restoration projects, getting connected to city officials and the inner works of the Parks and Community Services department
  • Supervised 20 University student volunteers completing a restoration project in Everest Park
  • Maintained our crew’s tools, which included shovels, weed wrenches, brush cutters, and hacksaws.

Sustainability Project Intern
UW Sustainability / Seattle,WA
  • Completed data analysis on the newly developed UW Sustainable Choices Survey results, where 133 people responded across the Seattle campus
  • Identified steps to be taken to ensure that UW Sustainability could increase respondent diversity; 84% of survey respondents were environmental majors
  • Developed own survey to determine effectiveness of incentives in changing the UW community’s response to the UW survey; Surveyed 42 UW students through in person interviews and outreach
  • Anticipated 19.1% increase in survey response rate from the implementation of incentives

My education was an interdisciplinary sustainability degree from the University of Washington. My degree focused on sustainability social sciences, as well as sustainability projects and case studies. I also got a minor in environmental science and resource management.
