Over the span of his career, he has been responsible for managing more than $1.5 billion in construction contracts. As a fourth-generation member of his family in the construction business, he has carried on a legacy while also building his own accomplishments. His Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Oklahoma State University provided him with the professional foundation necessary to undertake large and complex projects.
In his role, Jett Harris of Arkansas oversees new construction and renovation work from start to finish. He is involved from the bidding stage, helping to secure contracts, and then takes responsibility for preparing detailed schedules with milestones and deadlines. He makes sure each project stays within budget while solving problems as they appear. He works alongside the superintendent to see that crews, equipment, and materials are prepared and available at the correct times. When challenges occur, he addresses them directly to keep work moving forward without major setbacks.
He follows progress closely by reviewing daily reports and regularly visiting job sites. Being present enables him to observe the work's development and respond promptly to the needs of staff and subcontractors. Often managing multiple jobs at once, he ensures that resources are distributed effectively. Harris also procures essential items for projects, ranging from construction materials to signage, office supplies, and security equipment. At times, he supervises ordering, delivery, and inspection of materials, making sure everything is in place. He also leads weekly meetings with tradespeople and contractors, where progress is reviewed and upcoming tasks are discussed.
His leadership has built trust among owners, subcontractors, and suppliers. Clear and consistent communication is one of his strengths, keeping everyone informed and aligned. His ability to deliver results was recognized with the “Best Closer” award from Love’s Travel Stops for completing projects on schedule.
Outside of construction, he has a strong passion for aviation. He earned his pilot license in 2006 and holds an instrument rating for twin-engine aircraft. With more than 2,500 flight hours, he has gained extensive flying experience. Over the years, he has owned and restored several airplanes, further reflecting his dedication to the field.
Harris has also devoted thousands of hours to volunteer service. His work includes supporting youth, aiding the homeless, and volunteering in a juvenile jail. He spent two years as a Chaplain at Sebastian County Jail and two years as a board member at Fort Smith Christian School. His efforts have extended internationally as well, with time spent in Nigeria building water wells and assisting orphanages.
On a personal level, he met his wife on the school bus during his very first day of kindergarten, and their relationship has lasted for 33 years. Together, they have raised four children and now enjoy life with two grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys classic muscle cars, restoring 1960s Honda motorcycles, and fishing, especially fly fishing.
The life and career of Jett Harris demonstrate dedication to his profession, service to others, and a deep commitment to family and personal interests.
