Summary
Holly DeNeve is an Indiana attorney with a longstanding focus on child welfare law. She dedicated more than a decade to the Indiana Department of Child Services, where she worked on critical and emotionally complex cases involving children and families across St. Joseph County. Her efforts were often carried out quietly, without public recognition, yet consistently reflected deep preparation, sound judgment, and a steady commitment to protecting children's interests.
She graduated from New Prairie High School in 2004 and completed a degree in political science with a minor in environmental studies in 2008, graduating magna cum laude. In 2011, she earned her Juris Doctor and passed the Indiana Bar Exam. From the beginning of her legal path, she chose public service over private practice, guided by a desire to support those in vulnerable situations.
Holly began her legal career with the Department of Child Services as a temporary legal assistant before stepping into a full-time attorney position in St. Joseph County. Her work covered a wide range of child welfare matters, including children in need of services, adoptions, guardianships, and termination of parental rights. She was responsible for drafting motions, preparing discovery, interviewing witnesses, and conducting court examinations. Her consistent professionalism and composed presence earned the respect of those she worked alongside.
Holly maintained strong working relationships with judges, prosecutors, and caseworkers while staying informed about legislative and case-law developments. Her ability to explain legal concepts clearly led to invitations to speak at several continuing legal education seminars. In 2016, she briefly left the agency but returned within months, continuing her service until September 2025, an indication of her dedication to the work and its purpose.
Beyond her legal responsibilities, she and her husband actively supported local community programs, contributing to efforts that benefit foster children, schools, and families in need. Her early experience in law school assisting domestic violence survivors reinforced her belief in the importance of accessible legal help.
Holly DeNeve now plans to open a solo practice focused on mediation, guardian ad litem work, and child protection, continuing the mission-driven work that has guided her throughout her career.
