Summary
Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist with nearly twenty years of experience focused on cancer care, clinical research, and supporting equitable access to treatment. Her career spans academic, private, and government healthcare settings, where she has dedicated herself to providing effective therapies and leading oncology clinical trials. As an investigator in over 40 clinical trials, she has contributed to research across multiple cancer types, helping to make new treatment options available to a wide range of patients.
She is also deeply committed to serving underserved communities. Through virtual consultations and pro bono second-opinion services, she supports cancer patients in South Asia, aiming to close gaps in access to specialized oncology care. Her South Asian background and clinical expertise enable her to offer patient-centered care that considers the cultural context and local needs.
Her work has taken her to Southern California, Atlanta, and Washington D.C., as well as critical federal roles at the FDA, NIH, and VA. In these positions, she has successfully balanced clinical practice, research, and regulatory responsibilities, consistently focusing on improving patient outcomes. Her service as a locum tenens physician has allowed her to provide essential coverage during transitions and in communities where oncology expertise is limited.
Lingam earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Brown University and her Doctor of Medicine from Meharry Medical College. She completed an Internal Medicine residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center and a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Her professional experience includes positions as a staff physician and clinical researcher at Compassionate Cancer Care Medical Group, as well as leadership roles at The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, where she helped expand access to oncology clinical trials in Georgia. She has also collaborated with the Navya Network and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to provide expert oncology consulting services in South Asia. She has contributed to patient care at Cancer Treatment Centers of America and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam is board-certified in hematology and medical oncology and holds licenses in several states. Her dedication to research, patient advocacy, and service continues to guide her work as she remains committed to advancing cancer care and supporting patient well-being across diverse communities.
