Marketing, product management and sales strategy for the intellectual property ("IP") practice of a nation- ally-recognized Am Law 100 firm, with more than 500 attorneys in 13 offices, providing results-driven counsel and exceptional service in Litigation, Business and Finance, Real Estate, Intellectual Property, and Pub- lic Finance.
• Marketing - Lead business development and marketing manager for new practice teams in Manufacturing Retail industries, including developing messaging for the practices, assessing service offerings to fit client needs, prioritizing influencers and sector trade groups, and assessing competitive positioning versus other firms with industry-based practices.
• Business Development - Support the firm's national intellectual property practice and work with the marketing operations team to develop, implement and drive marketing and business development initiatives, including practice-level and partner-level business plans; created a Fashion Law initiative group; drove assessment and procurement of an IP litigation data analytics SaaS tool to enhance our client intelligence and promotional efforts.
• Strategy - Provide strategic guidance and proactive recommendations to enhance the visibility of the attorneys and the firm in local, regional, global and industry platforms, including speaking engagements, writing opportunities and other brand-building initiatives.
• Communications - Review and update marketing and communications plans and practice group materials, including social media outlets. Provide marketing support for the patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and IP litigation areas.
COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR - IC MATERIALS

"Second-in-command" for global $550m revenue division responsible for business strategy, new product development, RD programs, MA and partnership opportunities and market research.
• MA Deal - led program that accessed new ground-breaking technology/product line to move AZ into packaging materials for semiconductor segments by constructing a detailed commercial rights and financial transaction with small specialty materials VC-backed startup; transaction included minority equity stake (with rights to acquire remainder) as "strategic investor"; developed strong relationship with the key launch customer in semiconductor packaging space. Led business strategy development for exploratory acquisition project targeting industry leader in chemical-mechanical polishing (CMP) space.
• New Technology - ran start-up of the program to develop and attain early commercial positioning with key target customers for materials based on IBM directed self-assembly (DSA) technology, a critical new material platform with a business potential of $100 million revenue; transitioned program (having grown to 20+ team members) into company RD department while maintaining strong program progress.
• Licensing Negotiations - negotiated agreement with Rice University to gain commercial access to Rice's graphene nanoribbon (GNR) technology by concluding licensing and sponsored research agreements; and with Cornell University for electro spinning technology for advanced nanofibers for high-density battery applications; successfully integrated both into division.
• Legal - responsible for legal activities including trademarks and agreements while managing Legal team. Managed "ground-level" actions for IP lawsuit filed against infringer in Korea; coordinated with outside counsels in USA and Korea; developed strategy for filing the legal action based on complex internal legal entity and IP ownership structure.
• Finance, Investor Relations and Marketing Communications - represented semiconductor division on several "sell- the-business" projects, including the successful LBO of AZ by Carlyle Group and the 2010 IPO; authored sections of AZ's annual reports in support of central finance; supported Investor Relations by meeting with prospective investment analysts/firms; co-authored an investor-targeted promotional brochure entitled "Focused on the AZ advantage."
