Summary

Since early 2020, George Drazenovic has been a faculty member at University Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver, BC, where he has taught a wide range of courses in accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, and corporate strategy. He also served as Chair of Undergraduate Programs for nearly four years. Before joining the academic field, he held executive roles in the private sector, leading several ventures within the junior public markets.

His expertise spans HR management, recruitment, industry collaboration, business development, financial reporting, capital budgeting, strategic planning, capital markets, compliance, and investment valuation. He began teaching in the MBA program and later became an Associate Professor. In 2021, he was appointed Chair, reporting directly to the VP of Academics. By the end of 2024, student enrollment and faculty numbers had increased more than tenfold under his leadership. He was responsible for curriculum development, academic governance, budgeting, strategic initiatives, industry engagement, and regulatory compliance.

He oversaw three undergraduate programs: Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce (ACBSP-accredited), and Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications, which supported over 5,500 students and more than 200 faculty members. He served as a voting member on several university committees, including Senate, Curriculum, Governance and Standards, Quality Assurance, Admissions Appeals, and Undergraduate Program Working Committees. He led the successful consent renewal process for each program and contributed to the design and revision of many courses.

He introduced new leadership roles and structures to support faculty growth and enhance student outcomes. He guided the alignment of the accounting program with the CPA Western School of Business and introduced certification-aligned, technology-focused courses. His work modernized curriculum delivery, improved operational scheduling, and led the implementation of a new learning management system. He also mentored faculty, supported DEI initiatives, launched student events such as Pitch Night, and built industry connections through professional development.

Before entering academia, he served as CFO, CEO, and Director across multiple public companies, where he led exploration projects and secured funding for pharmaceutical research and early-stage trials.

George Drazenovic continues to bring his deep experience in education, leadership, and industry to bear with a focused, practical approach.
