Gary Perron has established a strong reputation in Canada’s investment industry for more than forty years, recognized for his consistent leadership, independent thinking, and reliable results. He has held roles as CEO, managing director, portfolio manager, and business founder, shaping the standards for independent wealth advisory in Western Canada. His influence can be seen in industry approaches to client alignment, accountability, and operational independence.
His career in finance began in 1977 at BMO Nesbitt Burns (and predecessor Burns Fry) in Calgary, where he spent 36 years building an investment philosophy grounded in discipline, flexibility, and accountability. These principles later formed the core of the independent firms he would establish.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from the University of Manitoba, earned his CFA designation in 1984, and completed the Institute of Corporate Directors program in 2015. In 2009, he established a foundation that has donated more than $5 million to registered charities in Calgary.
Under his leadership, his team at Perron & Partners Wealth Management (Calgary Cumberland Private Wealth) has earned Canadian Hedge Fund Awards nominations in 2022, 2023, and 2024 for the Kipling Funds, a 2024 Advisory Team of the Year Award of Excellence, a 2023 5-Star Advisory Team Honor, and a 2025 Wealth Management Award.
