Frik De Meyere

Spotting potential where others see risk is a skill Frik De Meyere has refined throughout his career. From building companies in Europe to shaping the real estate market in Belize, he has spent more than twenty years helping businesses and individuals unlock new opportunities. Today, he leads Prime Belize Real Estate, connecting clients with some of the region’s most desirable properties.

Frik grew up in a farming village near the Dutch border in Belgium. He pursued studies in information technology and emergency medical services in Ghent and Antwerp. With an eye toward leadership and business growth, he earned an MBA from Flanders Business School and followed it with a second MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.

Frik’s early career was shaped by a diverse range of experiences across Europe. He built companies and held leadership roles in real estate development, information systems, food production, cosmetics, and construction. Over more than a decade, he led and invested in more than twenty startups. Many of these companies later became part of larger enterprises through mergers or acquisitions. At the same time, he completed the construction and sale of more than one hundred residential units, gaining deep experience in real estate investment and project management.

Belize first captured Frik’s attention in 2004 when he visited the country with his partner, Ilse Van Keer, on a business scouting trip. The opportunity in Belize’s property market was clear, and he began acquiring land. In 2011, he and his family relocated to Belize, where he joined BMA Real Estate in Placencia.

At the time, BMA was a small firm conducting fewer than fifteen annual property transactions. Over the following decade, Frik played a key role in driving growth. The company’s team expanded to over twenty professionals, and annual transactions grew to over one hundred. Under his leadership, BMA also built a strong reputation for marketing premium listings, including private islands and luxury beachfront estates—drawing buyers from North America and Europe.

In 2023, Frik launched his own venture by founding Prime Belize Real Estate with trusted colleagues and local agents. The firm opened in January 2024 with a modern business model focused on agility, client responsiveness, and increased listing visibility. Today, he oversees sales and strategic direction for the firm, managing a diverse portfolio that ranges from land parcels to high-end villas and fully developed private islands.

Beyond his work in real estate sales, Frik continues to build businesses that contribute to Belize’s property ecosystem. He founded 501properties.com, a real estate classifieds platform, and created Placencia Storage, the country’s largest storage rental facility. Alongside Ilse, he also opened Chillpoint, a popular coffee shop, ice cream bar, and wine lounge in Placencia.

Frik is a naturalized Belizean citizen and Justice of the Peace who is deeply committed to giving back. He supports education, youth sports, public safety, and housing initiatives. He has fostered children and adopted a daughter from Belize with Ilse, deepening their family’s connection to the country they proudly call home.
