Jaime Alexander Caballero, M.D., FACC, FSCAI, is an interventional cardiologist practicing in Tampa, Florida, with expertise in coronary interventions, structural heart disease, and endovascular therapies. Dr. Jaime Caballero was born and raised in Colombia, where he developed an early passion for science and academic excellence. In 1994, he earned national recognition after becoming the National Champion in the Colombian Secondary School Mathematics and Physics Olympics in Bogotá. His interest in medicine led him to the University of Tolima School of Medicine, where he completed his medical degree in 2006. During his medical training, he received the Best Intern of the Year award from Hospital Fundación Santafé de Bogotá.
After graduating from medical school, Dr. Caballero pursued additional training in emergency and trauma care in Colombia. He completed Advanced Trauma Life Support certification at the University de La Salle in Bogota and undertook specialized training in emergency airway management at the University of Rosario. In 2009, he moved to the United States to continue his graduate medical education and expand his clinical training in a leading academic environment.
He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Saint Raphael Campus in New Haven, Connecticut. During this period, he received several awards recognizing his academic performance and professionalism, including the Kaplan Medical Honor Society Award for outstanding performance on the USMLE examinations, the Professionalism Award in 2010, and the Reach Excellence Award in 2011.
Jaime Caballero, MD, continued his postgraduate training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, completing fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology. Since entering clinical practice in 2016, he has focused on complex coronary procedures, structural heart interventions, and catheter-based therapies. Through his clinical work, teaching, and professional engagement, he continues to support innovation and education in cardiovascular medicine.
