Summary

Drew Doscher began his finance career unexpectedly after graduating from the College of Holy Cross in 1991. He initially aimed for a career in law enforcement. Raised in Stuyvesant Town, New York, he first worked in the back office of a financial firm, quickly advancing to the trading floor. His initial exposure to the distressed bond and loan markets came under the tutelage of Jon Bauer at Oppenheimer & Co., laying the foundation for his prominent career on Wall Street.

In 1995, Drew joined Lehman Brothers, where he honed his expertise in distressed debt alongside seasoned industry leaders. His career took a significant turn in 2001 when he moved to UBS to develop a global distressed trading business, a new venture for the firm in both the U.S. and Europe, solidifying his reputation in the financial sector. In 2006, he transitioned to Barclays, tasked with expanding their global distressed debt operations.

Following the 2008 financial crisis, Drew saw an opportunity at Seaport Group, a relatively small firm. Under his leadership, he transformed Seaport into Seaport Global, expanding its reach and scale and growing its revenues from under $25 million to $125 million. His leadership helped maintain substantial revenues, even during downturns, significantly contributing to the firm's success.

His successful tenure at Seaport caught the attention of Jefferies, which was recovering from a scandal. Drew was brought in to rebuild its reputation and operations. He established a new team and led a restructuring effort, eventually resigning to protect his squad from downsizing.

Drew then moved to BTIG and later to StoneX, where he was instrumental in developing credible credit businesses from scratch, further proving his ability to break new ground in the financial markets. His work included navigating major financial restructurings and handling significant bankruptcies for high-profile companies such as Enron and Lehman Brothers.

Throughout his career, Drew has shown a profound ability to handle complex financial challenges and maintained a high ethical standard, earning him the nickname “honest guy in a dishonest business.” His integrity and transparent dealings, especially notable during the Barclays-Lehman merger, have greatly enhanced his reputation in the finance world.

Besides his professional achievements, Drew has actively contributed to community projects, such as the restoration of the Montauk Playhouse, earning accolades for his civic engagement. Drew Doscher’s career, defined by his financial acumen and commitment to ethical practices, continues to leave a significant mark on the financial industry.
