Summary

David Hook serves as the Managing Director at Baymark Partners, where he has significantly influenced the firm's focus on leveraged recapitalizations and management buyouts of high-growth companies and middle-market services. Over 15 years, he has led the acquisition of 60 companies and supported over 50 early-stage tech companies through to IPOs, with five achieving sales of over $165 million each.


Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Hook embarked on his higher education journey at Bowling Green State University, later transferring to Wittenberg University. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, setting the stage for his future success in the financial sector. He remains connected to the academic world, frequently sharing his extensive experience as a guest lecturer to MBA students at Southern Methodist University.

Throughout his career, Hook has been an integral part of the Southwest Venture Forum Steering Committee and has actively participated in the DFW Private Equity Forum. These roles have allowed him to mentor numerous entrepreneurial ventures, aligning their strategic plans with operational and financial goals to ensure their growth and sustainability.

In the early 1980s, Hook moved to California, aligning himself with the burgeoning tech scene in Silicon Valley. During this time, he worked at Mohr and Davidow Ventures. He co-founded the first Hook Partners Fund. He has since been a General Partner in seven venture capital partnerships under the Hook brand, specializing in leveraged finance and startup investments.

His strategic foresight was evident when he moved to Dallas, TX, in 1988, capitalizing on the opportunities within the emerging Telecom Corridor. His efforts have led to successful investments in tech companies such as Volterra Semiconductor and Adaptive Solutions, marking significant contributions to the tech industry.

Today, Hook remains a driving force at Baymark Partners, guiding the firm's most successful tech investments and leveraging financing strategies to foster growth and innovation. His expertise and leadership have established him as a respected figure in the venture capital community.

Beyond his professional endeavors, David Hook is dedicated to philanthropy, serving on the boards of several nonprofits and supporting organizations that aid the disadvantaged. He is also an avid sportsman, enjoying golf, tennis, and the increasingly popular pickleball. In his leisure time, Hook indulges in his passion for travel, exploring new cultures, and gaining insights that enrich his personal life and professional engagements.
