Summary
David currently manages the West End orchestra for the Olivier Award winning musicals Come From Away at the Phoenix Theatre and Matilda the Musical at the Cambridge Theatre. David is also the Musicians Contractor for Local Hero at the Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, and Musicians Contractor for a future remount of Girl From The North Country which he worked on at the Old Vic and in the West End.
David recently finished working as the Orchestral Manager for 42nd Street at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, other recent work as Orchestral Manager includes Queen Anne at the Theatre Royal Haymarket 2017, Groundhog Day at the Old Vic in 2016, and From Here To Eternity at the Shaftesbury Theatre in 2013-14. David has also booked live musicians to accompany a number of recent Old Vic plays such as Future Conditional, The Lorax, A Christmas Carol, The Divide, Fanny and Alexander, and The American Clock.
Touring wise David is currently managing the orchestra for the UK tour of Matilda the Musical. David booked the band for Bernadette Peters last UK tour, worked as the Orchestral Manager for the UK tour of Jackie The Musical in 2016, and spent the summer of 2012 contracting and managing the musicians working on Matthew Bourne’s revival of ‘Play Without Words’ at Sadler’s Wells and on tour,
David was previously Music Manager at the National Theatre for ten years from 2000-2010 working on their award winning productions of musicals such as My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Anything Goes, Jerry Springer The Opera, and Caroline or Change and new plays including The History Boys and War Horse.
David then joined the Royal Shakespeare Company as Music Manager in 2010 managing the musical content for another varied repertoire of productions. The season included the World Premiere of the multi-award winning Matilda.
David also booked musicians for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood, musicians to record Sochi Olympic television promos at Pinewood Studios, and the live house band for the 2014 and 2015 AMFAR Cinema Against Aids Gala at the Cannes Film Festival.
