Summary

Surfing in Costa Rica has been one of the defining experiences of Coleman Creed Ledbetter’s life. Introduced to it at a young age during family trips, he quickly developed a strong attachment to the sport. Riding waves along the coast became more than a pastime—it became part of his lifestyle. To this day, surfing remains one of his favorite activities, a balance to his studies, music, and work. Time outdoors, whether on the water in Costa Rica, fishing back in Texas, or hunting at home, helps him recharge and return to his responsibilities with a steady mindset.

Coleman’s story begins in Waller, Texas, where he was born and raised among wide-open land, horses, and strong family traditions. Growing up on a horse ranch down the dirt road from his Grandparents shaped his daily routine. Mornings often began with chores, while evenings were spent on fishing trips or exploring the outdoors. This early way of life gave him a respect for hard work and a love for simple living. Waller was more than just a hometown—it was where he learned the values of honesty, responsibility, and community. Those lessons continue to guide his education, career goals, and personal relationships to this day.

In 2021, Coleman graduated from Waller High School. He began his college education at Texas Tech before transferring to South Plains College, where he expects to graduate in 2026. His career plan is to become an electrician. For Coleman Ledbetter, education is not just about completing coursework but about learning skills that will last. He values the trades because they involve creating something real with his own hands. Training as an electrician offers independence while still allowing for creative pursuits.

Music has been a constant in Coleman’s life since childhood. Around campfires, his family often passed around guitars, and his father and grandmother played while he joined in. Over time, what began as a family pastime became his own passion. Today, he sings, writes songs, and plays guitar in a way that naturally fits country music. The genre is a reflection of his roots and the experiences that shaped him. He has also performed live in Lubbock, including at Bashas, a venue known for supporting upcoming musicians. His songwriting draws inspiration from his Texas upbringing, outdoor adventures, and the people he loves. Music provides him with both a creative outlet and a source of grounding.

Work has also played a central role in Coleman’s growth. At Epic Energy, he worked as a construction assistant, gaining valuable experience on challenging work-sites and learning the importance of teamwork. Additionally, he assists in managing his family’s rental properties in Costa Rica and Lubbock, Texas. His responsibilities range from maintenance to customer service, teaching him the importance of accountability, adaptability, and practical problem-solving. Each of these roles has strengthened his skills and persistence.

Volunteer work is another area where Coleman has given time and energy. He has participated in mission trips and service projects that reflect his dedication to community service. Through UMARMY, he contributed to construction efforts that improved homes and neighborhoods. At a women’s shelter, he assisted in building a children’s library that became an important resource for families. In Costa Rica, he volunteered with Cepia, a nonprofit focused on education and cultural development. These experiences reinforced his view that service is a privilege and strengthened the values of compassion and responsibility that he carries with him.
