Summary

Ben Aderholt is a longtime Houston attorney and educator with more than 50 years of experience. Throughout his career, he developed substantial experience in construction law, business law, and bankruptcy, representing clients in demanding litigation and complex commercial transactions. His work often involved corporate disputes and cross-border agreements, requiring careful legal strategy. He currently teaches Construction Law at South Texas College of Law, where he applies decades of practical knowledge to prepare future attorneys.

He received both his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor from The University of Texas, establishing a strong academic foundation in legal reasoning and advocacy. To expand his global perspective, he later completed coursework toward an LLM in International Business Transactions at Lazarski University. Participation in an inaugural exchange program allowed him to study comparative legal systems and regulatory frameworks that influence international commerce and cross-border compliance.

Aderholt began practicing at Coats Rose, P.C. in Houston, focusing on bankruptcy, creditor rights, and commercial litigation. His early cases involved financial disputes, contract conflicts, and corporate restructuring matters that required disciplined preparation and client-focused solutions. In 2002, he joined Looper Reed and McGraw, P.C., where he practiced for more than twenty-four years, handling construction litigation, contract negotiation, and international business transactions.

Construction law became a central feature of his professional work. He advised contractors, developers, lenders, architects, and engineers on contract drafting, regulatory compliance, and risk management. His experience included resolving disputes related to delays, cost overruns, payment claims, and performance deficiencies through negotiation, arbitration, and trial. By aligning legal advice with business priorities, he helped clients protect financial interests and maintain operational stability.

After retiring from active practice, Ben Aderholt dedicated himself fully to teaching. For thirteen years, he has instructed students in Construction Law with emphasis on practical application and strategic analysis. His courses incorporate lessons from business law and bankruptcy to provide a comprehensive understanding of project risk and financial structure. His career reflects sustained commitment to professional integrity, mentorship, and service to the legal community.
