2013 Sep - Present
Head of Academic Management (China)
Kaplan International Colleges / Shanghai

As part of the China Senior Management Team, I provide country-wide academic leadership for KIC's programs delivered in China. I also oversee all aspects of their delivery.

This includes admissions, academic QA and operations, curriculum development, student progression and placement, budget management, and managing academic relationships with delivery partners and

overseas institutions. Revenue ranges between US$2.2m and $4.8m. I also collaborate with my colleagues in China and across the world on the development of new programs and business partnerships.

The programs I oversee include an undergraduate program with the Consortium of North American Universities and a bilingual, dual-diploma International High School curriculum. Our delivery partners are the international sections of public and private secondary schools across the country.

Achievements: developed an academic QA system and a new curriculum which led to a 50% increase in enrolments thanks to the best progression, retention, and student satisfaction rates in program history.

As Academic Principal, I established and/or supervised several international higher education and secondary programs for the international sections of two public secondary schools in Suzhou and Qingdao. These programs include AP, Kaplan's International High School, NCUK International Foundation Year, and US Pathway Program. Revenue was about US$2m.

Key functional areas were admissions and enrolment, academic QA and operations, university placements, staff planning, recruitment and development, relations with partner institutions, and teaching.

As Academic QA Manager, I directed teaching and assessment for Mathematics and Business Studies courses across all KIC schools in China.

Achievements: highest student satisfaction in China in 2009, 15% increase in mean grades over 3 years, largest scholarships awarded in Asia in 2013, significant reductions in staff turnover, and half of my team members promoted to higher positions within 1 year.
