Summary

Anthony Qi was born in Buffalo, New York, and raised in Houston in a family that placed strong emphasis on education and curiosity. Growing up in such an environment encouraged him to seek challenges and broaden his perspective. After high school, he earned a place in the Business Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, one of the most selective undergraduate programs in the country, where he built the foundation for a career shaped by both rigor and exploration.

At UT Austin, Anthony pursued a degree in Finance with a minor in Spanish, graduating in 2018 with a 3.5 GPA in his major. The program honed his problem-solving and critical thinking abilities through advanced coursework and collaborative projects. In 2015, he expanded his studies abroad at the Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires, where he learned program management and immersed himself in the Spanish language and culture, an experience that deepened his global outlook.

Anthony gained early professional experience through internships at Goshawk Global Investments, Nine Ten Capital Management, and Intertek in Shanghai, where he sharpened his ability to analyze markets across different industries and geographies. His first full-time role was at Highside Global Management, a $250 million hedge fund, where he spent nearly four years sourcing investment opportunities and overseeing coverage in advertising, transportation, and logistics. His approach emphasized discipline, evidence, and thoughtful risk-reward balance.

Eventually, Anthony shifted his career path toward product and software development. As the first employee at a startup building research tools for hedge funds and investigative journalists, he moved beyond pure analysis to help design and deliver products from the ground up. He contributed to UI/UX design, client development, data modeling, and feature creation, while also building partnerships that helped shape the company’s direction. This role showcased his adaptability and ability to bridge Finance and technology.
