Summary
After time as a TV news anchor and reporter in two US markets, I developed an interest in studying the fiscal struggles of small- and mid-sized cities and pursued a Master’s in Public Administration at the University of Pennsylvania. There, I completed a fellowship at a think tank and gained experience in focused research to shore up regional prosperity through economic analysis and leadership development.
Later roles included a consulting position with the Center for Governmental Research; leading launch of NY’s first Economic Gardening program; and the Empire State Fellowship, through which I served the office of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo as a policy advisor and analyst. I also worked for Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management as Manager of Corporate Relations, nurturing vital links between higher education and industry.
I hold an MPA from Penn, a BA in Journalism from Ithaca College's Park School of Communications; and an MBA certificate in Innovation Management and Technology Transfer from SUNY Empire State. I was named among DCI's 40 Under 40 in Economic Development in 2017 and am a member of Mensa International.

• Achievements: Generated key research for Buffalo-Rochester 2017 Amazon HQ2 bid; co-drafted and co-edited narrative. Guiding 3 tech firms and 2 manufacturers through state and local economic development incentives process (~150+ jobs to be created). Won 40 Under 40 in Economic Development award in 2017 from Development Counsellors International (DCI). Spearheaded GRE's 15-year anniversary economic impact. Producer and host of weekly radio show and podcast covering regional business community.
• Frontline contact to corporate site selectors and firms seeking to locate or expand in region;
• Heading efforts to set aside funds via $500 million Upstate Revitalization Initiative to support a program incentivizing development of shovel-ready sites;

Empire State Fellow, Policy Advisor/Analyst

• Achievements: Instrumental in restoring funding to North Country after-school organization after interfacing w/ stakeholders incl. Budget Dir. in 2014; helped lead conceptualization and launch of 2014 $35m Global NY Initiative; key content writer/proofreader for 2014 and 2015 State of the State policy books; led research project guiding investments in tourism industry which resulted in new bus terminal in Corning and infrastructure improvements at regional airports; served as Governor's liaison to NYS Council on the Arts, leading oversight of agency operations; helped the agency achieve $5m budget boost and improve contract timeliness as noted in 2015 Comptroller's report; planned logistics for nat'l-recognized 2015 Cuba trade mission.
• Awarded one of 5 Gubernatorial appointments to serve Governor's Executive Chamber 2013-2015;

• Achievements: Economic Gardening Program resulted in creation of over 120 jobs in the area under my leadership and today has led to 800+ new employment; precedent-setting economic research was responsible for Finger Lakes being awarded top scores from 2012-2015 in statewide economic development competition. Was asked to author columns on innovation by local newspaper.
• Launched New York's first Economic Gardening Program, a Regional Economic Development Council initiative targeting manufacturing and tech firms w/ "growth from within" retention + expansion services;
• Led economic analysis reports for firm expansions, major events, and other growth factors, notably for 95th PGA Championship (also touted by Governor's office and local media as excellent example of impact assessment) and for firm's 10-year anniversary influence report;
• Executed all labor market and economic data analyses for materials aimed at attracting new business to the region;
• Managed organization's social media presence and grew online audience by 20% on social media platforms;
• Regularly addressed Board of Investors, Partners, and area Developers regarding operations and economic trends;

• Achievements: Spearheaded "CGR Brief" e-newsletter and managed social media for the organization, growing following by approximately 1,000 email subscribers; developed detailed report ranking states by employee costs covered by Washington Post in 2012.
• Directed research and writing for several municipal consulting projects in NYS, conducting interviews w/ public leaders, performing budget analyses, and producing technical reports for shared services/consolidation studies;

• Performed benchmarking and statistical research on region's biotech innovation capacity, incl. qualitative research case study visit to Cambridge, MA;

• Achievements: Saved station significant funds by leveraging Newport Television employment status to simultaneously serve as an anchor in the Elmira-Corning market and a weekend live/spot news reporter in the Rochester market.
• Developed, wrote, and presented original and breaking news stories on live TV for Rochester's #1-rated ABC affiliate, focused primarily on Western NY politics and regional impact of issues such as recession and wars;
