Summary

Alon Rosin has established himself as a seasoned figure in institutional trading and equity derivatives, having spent more than 29 years in the financial industry. He currently serves as Managing Director and Head of US Institutional Equity Derivatives at Oppenheimer & Co., where he advises institutional investors on listed options strategies and complex market positioning. His reputation has been shaped by years of practical market experience and disciplined decision-making.

Alon stands apart because of his extensive background working on both the buy side and sell side throughout his professional career. He spent close to a decade managing portfolios and trading at hedge funds before transitioning into leadership roles on Wall Street. This balanced exposure helped him gain valuable insight into institutional investing, market psychology, liquidity challenges, and volatility management during uncertain trading environments.

Alon graduated Cum Laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. During his university years, he also earned Dean’s List recognition in both 1995 and 1996. After graduation, he joined the Sales and Trading training program at Salomon Brothers, where he entered the fast-paced institutional trading world during an important period for financial markets.

Alon gained valuable buy-side experience while serving as a portfolio manager and senior trader at respected firms such as J. Goldman & Co. and Diamondback Capital. In those roles, he focused on managing risk, identifying trading opportunities, and navigating rapidly changing market conditions. His understanding of investment pressure from the client perspective later became one of his greatest advantages when working with institutional investors on the sell side.

Alon also served as Head of Institutional Sales for Derivatives and Equities in the Americas at BGC Partners before joining Oppenheimer. In that role, he worked closely with institutional investors to strengthen the company’s presence in the derivatives and equities markets. His ability to combine technical trading knowledge with strong client relationships helped him earn respect across the financial industry.

Alon has played an important role in building Oppenheimer’s institutional derivatives business into a stronger and more competitive platform. He works with buy-side clients to assess market volatility, manage exposure, and execute sophisticated options strategies. A major development during his leadership came through the acquisition of Guggenheim’s options desk, which expanded the institutional derivatives team and reinforced Oppenheimer’s market presence.

Alon has occasionally attracted media attention because of his market commentary during periods of volatility and uncertainty. In April 2025, he made headlines by encouraging investors to cover shorts, a move that later helped trigger a major market bottom associated with the DJT Tariff Tantrum. The call reflected the confidence and perspective developed through years of navigating difficult market cycles and extreme trading conditions.

Alon Rosin has remained involved in charitable efforts and personal interests outside the finance industry for many years. He has supported numerous philanthropic causes and community events while maintaining a relatively private profile regarding his contributions. Alongside his professional career, he enjoys activities such as golf, tennis, skiing, padel, and international travel. Friends and colleagues often describe him as competitive, disciplined, and highly relationship-focused.
