Alexander Rekeda

Alexander Rekeda is a co founder of Unity for Freedom, a non profit established in 2022 to manage humanitarian aid for Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees following the 2022 invasion and war. The organization was created to coordinate resources in a more efficient and transparent manner, ensuring that essential supplies such as food, water, and shelter reach those in urgent need. Its purpose is to address immediate challenges while also preparing for long-term rebuilding after the conflict.

Rekeda helped shape the charity's strategic direction after recognizing that existing donation channels were not always fast or cost-effective. After contributing to several relief agencies through various channels, he sought a model that would enable aid to reach impacted communities more directly. His involvement focused on building a structure that supports timely distribution and responsible oversight.

He worked with a group of friends within months of the war beginning in February 2022 to form Unity for Freedom. By pooling resources and developing reliable contacts inside Ukraine, they created a streamlined system capable of responding to new hotspots and urgent developments. Their approach combines immediate humanitarian relief with awareness of future recovery needs.

Alexander prioritizes consistent communication with individuals on the ground who report the most pressing shortages. Through daily contact, the organization identifies where supplies are needed most and coordinates procurement and delivery. Particular attention is directed toward areas near the front lines, where access to necessities can quickly become limited.

As the war has continued over the past several months, the nature of assistance has shifted. Rural communities with limited access due to troop movements face different barriers than cities experiencing damaged supply chains. Housing remains a serious concern as homes are destroyed, and efforts are made to help displaced individuals secure temporary shelter and stable living conditions.

In the middle of these efforts, Alexander Rekeda continues to focus on ensuring that support reaches vulnerable populations efficiently. The non-profit works with in-country organizations assisting orphans, families separated by the war, and injured civilians who require medical and psychological care. Immediate needs such as rehabilitation and basic supplies are addressed first, followed by education and housing as secondary priorities.

He also supports purchasing goods locally whenever possible so that food, medical supplies, and other essentials can be distributed quickly during gaps in international aid. Extremely local organizations are often the most effective partners, especially in regions with limited access to larger aid networks.
