Summary
Alex Ostrovsky is a business executive, product strategist, and sales leader with long-standing experience in consumer goods and electrical manufacturing. He serves as Executive Director of Business and Product Development for Smart Fans at Modern Forms, overseeing strategy and execution for a technically complex, design-centered smart home category.
His entry into the consumer goods sector was purposeful. Early in his career, Alex recognized that the discipline developed through legal education, including negotiation, preparation, persuasion, and accountability, could be applied effectively to sales leadership and product oversight. He has consistently viewed sales as a structured system that connects customer needs, operational execution, and long-term brand value rather than as a transactional function.
He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law at Indiana University. During law school, he served as President of the Criminal Law Association and competed on the trial team at a national competition in Chicago. Alexander Ostrovsky is licensed as an attorney in Indiana and later became a managing real estate broker. These roles strengthened his understanding of regulatory environments and complex negotiations. Instead of remaining in traditional legal practice, he chose to move closer to core business strategy and decision-making.
He developed his commercial foundation at Fanimation Ceiling Fans, where he advanced from National Account Manager to National Sales Manager. He managed major national accounts, including Ferguson Enterprises, and directed the company’s e-commerce strategy across Amazon, Wayfair, Build.com, and specialty lighting retailers. His responsibilities included product lifecycle management, pricing strategy, inventory planning, and competitive analysis. Alex also introduced the company’s first national buying program to establish a clearer and more measurable path for account growth.
For a little over 8 years at Modern Forms, he progressed from National Sales Manager – Smart Fans to Director of Sales & Product Management, and in March 2025, he was promoted to his current executive role. He works with executive leadership to define ceiling fan strategy across the WAC Group portfolio, leading sales planning, customer management, and connected-fan product development from concept to launch. He evaluates technologies, coordinates with suppliers, manages tooling budgets, and balances pricing and inventory decisions. Through steady leadership and practical execution, Alexander Ostrovsky of Indiana continues to influence the smart ceiling fan category.
