Allison Kelly

Hi!

My name is Allison Kelly and I am the Marketing and Promotions Graduate Assistant for the University of Central Missouri! I am currently finishing up my 5th year with the marketing and promotions team (3 years in undergrad and 2 years in graduate school), and have loved every second of it! From the experience I have gained through working in different fields in athletics allows me to have the knowledge and skills when it comes to most athletic needs.

At a young age, I played basketball, softball, and volleyball, and played basketball and softball one year in high school. Instead of not participating with sports, I reached out to the head football coach at my high school asking if there was any way I could become a student manager and my sophomore year (2010), our football team went to state and won its 2nd state title!! I knew my parents wanted me to be involved in other things than football, so I decided to be a girl's basketball team manager where my sister was a senior for the 2010 - 2011 school year. Getting to see my sister work hard and pursue her dreams getting to play basketball in college was a dream come true. Once basketball started winding down, I was asked by the head baseball coach if I would consider running stats for the season and figured I might as well keep busy! I continued being a manager to all three sports (I was requested to help stat for the men's team by the head coach) the rest of my high school career.

Before I got down to the University of Central Missouri to start my degree, I actually met my current boss while he was working and talked about job opportunities with the athletic department in Fall 2013. He told me to email him in July and I would get squared away with a job! While working for the marketing and promotions department as an undergraduate assistant from 2013 - 2016, I also was a part of a sorority on campus; Sigma Sigma Sigma. My grandmother, mother, and sister were all a part of this beautiful chapter, and I am so blessed I was able to be a part of that! Towards the end of my position as an undergraduate assistant, I applied for the graduate position for this department and out of many applicants, I got it!

Now, when I first started, I knew the position had the GA work almost all of the sports, but I really didn't know what that entailed until my first few weeks in the position. I have currently helped women's soccer, volleyball, football, men's and women's basketball, softball, and baseball, and with each sport I have fallen in love with more things each day. This position was a blessing which allowed me to work while getting my degree, which is something I will forever be thankful for.
