This position is responsible for all accounting responsibilities related to various disciplines within the international accounting department, which would include:
• Full cycle hotel accounting including month-end close of (2) assigned hotel(s)
• Reconciliation and variance analysis – preparation and/ or review
• Continual review of operating and general expenses including inventory items
• Regular communications with hotel managers and relevant staff
• Assisting with Internal/External audits – building schedules and research.
• Ad-hoc requests, projects and re-assignment of duties dependent on department needs
• Special Projects
Responsibilities
• Performs the accounting and monthly close (including variance analysis) for assigned hotels and/or entities according to pre-determined close schedule.
• Preparation of monthly reconciliations for property cash accounts and other GL reconciliations for hotel properties and other entities as assigned, if assigned to 3rd party includes control of same accounts
• Contribute to the successful completion of internal and external financial audits, including delivering information and schedules requested by auditors on a timely basis
• Prepare or monitor all JE’s related to assigned hotels, ensuring relevant backup attached
• Continuous review of all key accounts, Balance Sheet and Income Statement related
• Other special projects, ad-hoc reports and responsibilities as assigned
• Ensure integrity of monthly fees, owner distributions, FF&E funding, and other items as required.
• May include acting as backup on the following or other activities:
◦ calculation and remittance of VAT for assigned hotels
◦ prepare and post payroll JE’s including calculation of relevant accruals
• Assistance in the establishment, documentation and maintenance of SOP’s and internal controls for our accounting operations
• Review AP and AR Aging for assigned hotels
Qualifications
• 4-5 years of hands-on full cycle general ledger, extensive reconciliation & analysis experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
• Prior experience in a cross-managed high-functioning team environment
• Exceptional PC skills including Excel
• Desire to learn the hospitality industry
• Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills, the ability to prioritize and work independently once training completed
• Able to work overtime as necessary. This may include the occasional weekend.
• Outstanding critical thinking and analytical skills
• Has a positive and proactive attitude even if priorities change, understands that they are part of a larger team
• Able to establish effective working relationships with internal and European leadership contacts, communicating clearly and effectively
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and meet hard deadlines
• Knowledge of general accounting principles.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organization skills, asking questions when needed
• Using past experience, contribute to the constant improvement and evaluation of our current processes and procedures
• Willing to assist others as needed, including coaching other staff
• 3-4 years in accounting for a service based industry - Hospitality or F&B (Preferred)
• Experience working hands-on in a multi-currency environment (Preferred)
• Working knowledge of a second language (German, Hungarian, Romanian, Czech, Spanish) (Preferred)
• Proficiency with Oracle (cloud) accounting systems (Preferred)
