The Administrative Director for Clinical Simulation & Education Center reports to the Deans of the College of Nursing, the School of Health & Medical Sciences and the School of Medicine is a full-time, 12 month position which reports to the Deans of the College of Nursing, School of Health and Medical Sciences and the School of Medicine. The Administrative Director for Clinical Simulation & Education Center, is the responsible party to manage all simulation related educational activities on the IHS campus. The Administrative Director (AD) has responsibilities for center’s budget, personnel, maintenance of facilities, and for ensuring fidelity of curricula and assessments involving simulation modalities. The AD works in concert with the three individual School Directors of Clinical Simulation to coordinate simulation and clinical education activities in the Interprofessional Health Sciences Campus Simulation Center, skills labs and Standardized Patient (SP) Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create a positive learning environment that supports the visions of Seton Hall University/Hackensack Meridian Health. Develop and enact a plan for managing the operations in the Clinical Simulation & Education Center. Develop, disseminate and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient use of the lab space, equipment, and supplies. Institute continuous quality improvement strategies for simulation program improvement. Facilitate simulation utilization by serving as a simulation consultant and center representative, including providing tours for interested parties. Prepare a budget annually for submission to the Deans, to cover operation and maintenance expenses, equipment acquisition, and research activities. Regularly meet with the Deans to discuss matters related to teaching, research, and operations of the Clinical Simulation & Education Center. Be a member of the CON and SHMS Dean's advisory Council and a member of the CON and SHMS Counsel of Department Chairs as a subject matter expert in simulation education.
• Oversee optimal utilization of the simulation facility including scheduling, coordination and logistic organization of simulation based educational programs. Assure adequate quantity and training of staff to optimize efficiency and effectives of Clinical Simulation & Education Center. Direct and supervise personnel within the center who have dotted-line responsibilities to the three schools; work with the human resources department to hire or replace personnel who work in the Clinical Simulation & Education Center. Submit annual performance evaluations on all personnel assigned to the center. Oversee the inventory and maintenance of the center equipment and facilities, including planning for replacement of existing equipment and acquisition of new technology.
• Facilitate research and provide an annual report of scholarly activities in the Clinical Simulation & Education Center to the Deans. Collaborate with the three individual School Directors of Simulation and Clinical Skills to assist with curricular needs for learners using the center. Provide Continuing Education courses for faculty and other stakeholders to work with simulation methods as a method of teaching.
Required Qualifications:
• Master's Degree. Field of study: nursing, education, health professions, or a related field
Desired Qualifications:
• Doctoral Degree. Field of study: PhD, nursing, education, health professions, or a related field
Licenses and Certificates:
• Certification in Simulation Education preferred.
