Description
Creates compelling content as well as plans, organizes, directs and oversees all communications staff; assigns or writes releases for primary sports, publicity materials for athletic events, sports news and feature article copy; responsible for budget decisions regarding athletic communications; directs and assists researching and disseminating information regarding potential news stories; works with local, regional and national media to place stories; assists with department’s marketing and promotion initiatives; generates, executes and collaborates on social media plans for assigned sports; supervises full-time and student media relations staff; maintains and enhances athletics website including video and audio streaming of athletics events; assists with broadcasting rights agreement; and trains staff on statistical and desktop publishing software.
Bachelor’s degree required plus at least three years Division I collegiate athletics public relations experience required. Frequent work outside of normal work hours will be necessary. Must abide by the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, the Missouri Valley Football Conference, the Big 12 and the University of Northern Iowa. Criminal and other relevant background checks required.
