Marietta College is an independent, selective, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college of 1,200 graduate and undergraduate students located in the historic river city of Marietta, Ohio. Job Description:
Marietta College seeks qualified applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Sports Information Director. The Assistant Sports Information Director will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information and Compliance and will assist with the publicizing and promoting of the total athletic program at Marietta College to local, regional and national audiences.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as the primary media contact for several sports including, but not limited to: Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track, Men's and Women's Lacrosse
• Assist with the maintenance of the Athletic Department web site with results, game stories, statistics, student-athlete profiles, rosters, schedules, photo galleries, and video content
• Assist with home event management including in-game statistics, internet video stream, halftime interviews, and hosting visiting media
• Assist with the creation of video content including post game coach/player interviews, coaches shows, team recruiting profiles and features (e.g., Where Are They Now?)
• Assist with the communication and reporting requirements with the Ohio Athletic Conference, NCAA and intercollegiate opponents
• Assist with the management of the Athletic Department social media platforms
• Assist with the production of printed materials including media guides, recruiting brochures, schedule posters and schedule cards
• Assist with the recruiting, training and management of a 10-12 person student staff
• Assist with Marietta College Athletic Hall of Fame research
• Responsible for regional and national award nominations (e.g., NCAA Women of the Year, NCAA Award of Valor)
Requirements:
• A Bachelor's degree is required
• Previous sports information experience is preferred
• Experience with men's and women's lacrosse and volleyball is preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, SideArm or Presto web platforms, Automated Scorebook and Stat Crew, and various social media platforms
• Knowledge base of the playing and statistical rules for Marietta's 22 varsity intercollegiate sports.
Additional Information:
• Exposure to unusual elements, heat, cold, loud noise, long hours, many people in a small area, physical activity such as running and carrying objects up to 25 pounds
• Schedule will vary on a daily basis and include evenings and weekends
• Must be able to travel, and possess and maintain a valid driver's license
