The University at Albany is searching for a qualified applicant to fill the role of Assistant Director of Media Relations for Athletics. This position's duties include, but are not limited to; prepare press releases, game notes, feature articles and media guides for assigned sports, manage social media accounts with implementation and knowledge of latest trends and practices. This position must also develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, coaches and student athletes, maintain department archival records and statistical files, and assist with game management duties for home events, publication design and coordination, and assisting in the publicity and promotion of the University's 18 intercollegiate sports. UAlbany is a NCAA Division I institution that competes in the America East Conference, Women's Golf (MAAC) and Football is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or a related field
• Minimum two years' experience in a Division I athletic media relations capacity
• Strong organizational and writing skills with expertise and demonstrated ability of website design, computers, statistical software packages, desktop publishing (Adobe InDesign), image acquisition and editing (Photoshop)
• Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
• Ability to work nights and weekends is required.
• Ability to work independently and able to make tight deadlines
