The Mid-American Conference is accepting applications and nominations for the position of Director of Men’s and Women’s Basketball Operations. Reporting to the Senior Associate Commissioner for Men’s & Women’s Basketball, this position is responsible for the implementation of various key operational activities related to the sports of men’s and women’s basketball in the Mid-American Conference.
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Work with various constituencies to assist in the development the conference men’s and women’s basketball schedule that meets the conference’s scheduling guidelines
Serve as the assistant operations director of the MAC Tournament. Duties include interface with Quicken Loans Arena staff, team operations, coordination of ticket allocations, distribution of team credentials, managing the team video operations center, overseeing the team host program, and insuring adherence to tournament policies/procedures
Assist with the review and revision of the men’s and women’s basketball policy manual on an annual basis. Aid in identifying issues and managing compliance with policy matters
Provide administrative assistance to the officiating program/consortium
Attend events or staff the command center as determined by the Senior Associate Commissioner
Regular season day-to-day duties for Men’s and Women’s basketball
Instant replay liaison for our institutions and DV Sport
Team video exchange contact with Synergy
Assist with TV selection schedule process
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Experience in managing events, tournaments, etc.
• Strong familiarity with NCAA and basketball playing rules, as well as game operations regulations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong understanding of utilizing analytics to improve scheduling, business decisions, and team performance
• Strong work ethic and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to effectively collaborate with staff, member institutions, and other constituent groups
