Western Kentucky University, a member of Conference USA and a Football Bowl Subdivision NCAA member institution, seeks to hire an individual for the position of Director of Marketing. This is a 12-month, full-time position. This position will report directly to the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Sales. Applicants must have a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of WKU, Conference USA and the NCAA.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
-Oversee all marketing efforts for WKU Men's Basketball and Women's Volleyball to include advertising, fan experience, in-game promotions, game scripts and fan communication regarding Basketball and Volleyball events.
-Develop new strategies to engage fans at WKU games and events.
-Identify and develop business partnerships between community groups, university departments, alumni, and other organizations to aid WKU Athletics marketing and sales efforts.
-Manage the budget and operations of all WKU Spirit groups, including: all girl cheer, co-ed cheer, dance team, Big Red Mascot program and liaison for the Big Red Marching Band.
-Manage students and part time staff's daily schedules to include assignment of game day responsibilities for all 16 sports.
-Manage WKU Street Team to recruit new students/volunteers to assist WKU Athletics with community events as well as operations for home athletic events.
-Train staff on how to use: Daktronics video boards, ribbon boards and floor LED panels, click effects, smoke/fog/CO2 pregame show.
-Manage staff responsible for: scripting writing for all sports/events, game day operations of PA/promos/score board/video board for all home athletic events, daily office operations, and social media content on all sport accounts and main WKU Athletics accounts.
-Assist in management of WKU Athletics marketing budget.
-Assist with and plan special events.
-Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Sales.
Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:
-Must be self-motivated and team-oriented.
-Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Strong attention to detail.
-Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
-Computer experience, especially with desktop publishing (i.e. InDesign and Photoshop).
-The duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed in a competent manner following the highest standards for leadership, professionalism, integrity, accountability, responsibility, cooperation, and customer service.
