Description
Serve as the primary staff member in intercollegiate athletics to represent the program in the community and with other external constituents and manage external engagement activities. Organize and manage all community outreach, engagement and promotional activities for student-athletes and coaches consistent with the Division II community engagement initiative and the Division II strategic positioning platform (Helper Helper, Make-a-Wish, Team Impact, etc) and manage and administer “Gus” and “Pitt Crew”.
Manage all aspects of overall program promotion through broadcasting and social media. This includes management of the Gorilla “app”, serving as primary administrator for MIAA Digital Network, and coordination of all general and sports-specific social media activities on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, etc. Serve as primary liaison for Pittsburg State’s third party corporate sponsor sales group and other Gorilla Sports Properties activities and manage all trade-out arrangements (hotels, food, etc.). Assist with coordination of Pitt State Athletic Fund activities including annual fund, Silverback Fund, and other non-major gift activities.
Manage and oversee all promotional aspects of football and basketball games administration by serving as “game director” including: manage and hire staff for video boards and public address, prepare all game scripts and video board activities working with public address announcer and video board staff, and manage all requests for use of video boards. Also coordinate all media and donor hospitality for all home events and also assist with home games administration in other sports. Manage sales and fulfillment of Carnie Smith Stadium skyboxes and John Lance Arena Champions Club and administer and oversee donor relations for these facilities. Organize and administer the annual Gorilla Gala auction and dinner with primary responsibilities for general organization and planning, procurement of auction items and overall promotion of the event.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, athletic administration, business administration or related field. At least 2 years of work experience as a graduate assistant, intern or full-time employee in intercollegiate athletics; or at least 2 years of work experience as a graduate assistant, intern or full-time employee in sales, marketing, promotions, public relations or development.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in marketing, public relations, athletic administration or related field.
