Director of Coaching & Youth Programs
Description:
USA Shooting, the National Governing Body for the Olympic sport of Shooting, seeks a motivated, inspiring and dedicated leader to join our team. The candidate should have an exceptional skill set, a “development first” philosophy and the ability to work well with a team of people and a diverse group of coaches. This individual will be tasked with developing USA Shooting’s integral pipeline, fostering influential and effective coaches. This position is focused directly on the coach academy program.
Job Summary:
1. Supported by content experts, develops USAS coach education programs and training across all disciplines (online courses and classroom/range training).
2. Develops, implements, updates and manages the USAS coach education learning management system (ePath) and the ecommerce catalog web site (Shopsite/Lexicon).
3. Develop and manage revenue producing system hosting opportunities for Safe Sport online training courses with allied organizations, including other online training courses that allied organizations may want to have created and hosted (e.g. NRA, CMP, NSSF, American Legion, 4H, any allied shooting organization with youth programs).
4. Expand and develop online training courses to include parent training, athlete training, volunteer training and staff training.
5. Develop and support Coach Academy Master Instructor cadre, expanding cadre as training demand increases.
6. Identify, schedule and coordinate coach ground course hosting sites across the US.
7. Develop and improve basic coach training (e.g. partnering with CMP for rifle and pistol coach training).
8. Work with appropriate education organization to obtain/maintain coach education accreditation.
9. Manages the Certified Training Center program.
10. Manage and conduct the Biennial Coach Conference.
11. Other duties as assigned.
Job Duties:
1. Development of coach education for Olympic shootings sports that increase the number of Olympic shooting sports coaches.
2. Development and support for Youth Programs across each of the shooting disciplines including Shotgun, Rifle, and Pistol. Role will require significant interaction and fostering of relationships with youth development programs in place run by NSSF, SCTP, 4-H, Boy Scouts of America, etc.
3. Provide a detailed plan outlining the grassroots efforts by USA Shooting to promote youth shooting across all disciplines fostering the Olympic dream by the youth of America.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with allied shooting sports organizations as it relates to coach education, Safe Sport and any other online training needs identified by allied organizations.
5. Travel as necessary for program promotion, educational seminars, workshops, conventions, conferences and committee meetings.
6. Develop programs to increase diversity within Olympic shooting sports.
7. Learning management systems implementation and administration.
8. Training course development (online courses and classroom courses) for athletes, coaches, parents, volunteers, staff and officials/referees.
9. Coach Academy and CTC budget development and financial management.
10. Vendor selection and vendor management.
11. Manage and conduct the Biennial Coach Conference.
12. Develop, manage and support the USAS Certified Training Center program.
13. Act as the staff liaison to the USAS Board of Directors on the Coach Academy program.
14. Develop and manage any revenue producing online training programs for allied shooting organizations.
15. Continually promote and enhance the image of USA Shooting in the United States.
16. Manage and provide direction for nominated area experts within Youth Development.
This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and is overseen by the CEO. Travel is required. This is a full-time position located here at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position does include benefits and pay based on experience. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of our SafeSport course and a background check.
