Summary: The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Student Athlete Development is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and review of the institution’s compliance program and student-athlete development. The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Student-Athlete Development is also responsible for the daily operation of the compliance program including rules education, interpretation, and monitoring of compliance areas. However, each individual associated with the Academy of Art University is responsible for being aware of University and NCAA legislation as it applies to her/his individual responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
Compliance
• Conduct team orientation before each sport's playing season
• Review all student-athlete NCAA and institution compliance forms, including the Drug Testing Consent Form and Student-Athlete Statement
• Assist with compilation and reporting of the NCAA Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act each year
• Coordinate the education of prospective student-athletes, enrolled student-athletes, coaches, college personnel, and representative of athletics interests with regard to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules
• Coordinate, prepare, and maintain NCAA squad lists in conjunction with the Financial Aid Office
• Monitor Financial Aid limits offered based on team budgets
• Serve as department liaison with the NCAA Eligibility Center
• Receive final Eligibility Center eligibility decisions, place the decisions in student’s Admissions files and notify the Department of Athletics when a final decision is rendered
• Oversee student-athlete initial eligibility and share status with coaches
• Coordinate with Student-Athlete Admissions and Academic Liaison with Progress Towards Degree and Continuing Eligibility
• Assist with Student-Athlete Admissions and Academic Liaison with compiling data in regards to missed class time and grade reports
• Coordinate institutional effort to determine student-athletes’ continuing eligibility
• Review and audit off-campus contact and evaluation requests
• Review academic transcripts and test scores to approve official visit requests
• Monitor the number of official visits provided in all sports
• Interpret NCAA rules for coaches and staff
• Monitor permissible recruiting materials in accordance with NCAA Bylaws
• Secure the release for potential transfer students and facilitate the release of student-athletes seeking to transfer, in consultation with the Head Coach and Director of Athletics
• Maintain participation records and determine seasons of competition utilized by student-athletes
• Identify potential NCAA rules violations and report them to the Director of Athletics and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR)
• Assist in investigations of reported secondary NCAA rule violations
• Review summer regulations regarding athletics participation, camps and employment for coaches and student-athletes
• Coordinate the Institutional Letter of Intent program for athletes
• Coordinate the release of Institutional Letter of Intent signees with Sports Information, Financial Aid and Admissions
• Monitor outside scholarships with Financial Aid
• Coordinate the process of initial and annual renewal, reduction, cancelation or non-renewal of athletic grants-in-aid with Financial Aid
• Assists with items relating to Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office and Housing
• Coordinate all NCAA appeals
• Monitor employment of student-athletes according to NCAA Bylaws
• Assist Financial Aid in determining student-athletes’ eligibility status of for the NCAA Special Assistance Fund
• Monitor compliance with NCAA Bylaws regarding complimentary admissions to athletics events
• Oversee compliance with NCAA Bylaws regarding summer camps
• Sport Supervision of select programs as determined by the Athletic Director
• Travel to events or activities as dictated by the policy of the Athletics Department, the Pacific West Conference or the NCAA
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
Student-Athlete Development
• Oversee completion of the Student-Athlete handbook
• Oversee Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
• Conduct, collect and review Student-Athlete Exit Interviews
• Ensure an environment that promotes student-athlete health and welfare and a commitment to strong academic values
• Serve as departmental liaison with Academic Advising, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, FAR and Diversity & Inclusion initiatives and education
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree preferred
• Experience managing NCAA compliance programs at a university or conference level
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Thorough understanding of NCAA rules and the administration of NCAA and conference policies and procedures within an athletic department
