Job Summary:
To develop, manage, and promote the Texas Rangers youth baseball programs including but not limited to: the Rangers Youth Academy, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities program, camps and clinics, tournaments and Youth Ballpark functions. The position will report to the Vice President Community Outreach/Executive Director Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
• Development and oversight of the Rangers Youth Academy including but not limited to:
• Coordination and planning of all programming and instruction of coaches, staff, and programming at the Rangers Youth Academy
• Oversight and implementation of Rangers baseball, softball and educational programming at the Academy
• Coordination with MLB to facilitate MLB programming at Academy
• Support of Mercy Street (non-profit partner) programming and coordination of scheduling
• Training of coaches and oversight of staff at the Youth Academy
• Implement corporate partner elements in support of Academy as required
Implementation of the RBI program in the Rangers market including but not limited to:
• Coordination of all registration and reporting to Major League Baseball to develop Rangers RBI structure where all leagues report to Rangers instead of MLB
• Distribution and procurement of equipment and uniforms to all leagues with purchasing to be done via MLB procedures and equipment coordinated with what is presently in league possession
• Scheduling of games, fields, and umpires
• Recruitment of and coordination and main liaison with leagues playing under the Rangers RBI umbrella in order to show growth in numbers and quality of play
• Development of coaches training programs (at least 2 per calendar year) to provide coaches with resources needed to be successful
• Oversee and manage Rangers RBI Regional Tournament participation and any subsequent World Series play
• Report budget information, enrollment numbers, and weekly status updates to Executive Director and to Major League Baseball according to their timing schedules
• Manage expenses for program to maintain Foundation budget allocation for RBI programs
• Implement corporate partner elements in support of RBI program as required
• Develop strategic plan for camps, clinics, and tournaments to promote the game across the Rangers territory and provide revenue opportunities for the organization
• Direct youth ballpark, camps and clinics staff and manage staff hours, training and oversight
• Recruit and train camps and clinics coaching staff.
• Manage budgets, schedules and operations of clinics, camps and tournaments
Requirements:
• Strong baseball background with coaching experience preferred
• Experience managing others in prior responsibilities
• Bachelor’s degree, preferred
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to develop budgets and strategic plans
• Ability to work weekends and evenings
