POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the President, the Director of Athletics provides the overall vision, leadership and oversight of Hofstra’s NCAA Division I athletics program, which includes 17 men’s and women’s teams comprised of approximately 325 student-athletes, and 70 coaches and other administrative and support personnel. The University maintains conference membership in the Colonial Athletic Association and the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association.
The Director is responsible for implementing and executing a strategic plan and vision for the University’s Athletic program to include the expansion of its fundraising, marketing, media and community relations while effectively managing the program’s budget and finances. Director will also have direct oversight of athletics compliance and reporting, athletics facilities and the management and development of the athletics staff.
Additional responsibilities include:
•Maintenance and cultivation of excellent relationships in order to represent and promote the University and the athletics programs to both internal and external constituencies.
•Support and development of student-athletes, in achieving their full potential with the highest possible academic performance. •Monitoring compliance with University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations, as well as implementing appropriate training and procedures to proactively identify potential compliance issues.

QUALIFICATION/CHARACTERISTICS
• Bachelor’s degree required; appropriate graduate degree strongly preferred.
• Minimum 7-10 years relevant senior-level experience in athletic administration and management required.
