Millsaps College invites applications for the position of Director of Sports Communications. This 12-month, full-time job offers a competitive salary and benefits that could include apartment housing on campus with an anticipated start date of February 15, 2018. Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Vice President for Student Life, the Director of Sports Communications is responsible for the promotion of a successful NCAA Division III athletic program that features 18 sports.
Millsaps is a member of the 12-team Southern Athletic Association Conference.The Director of Sports Communications will be the primary media contact for all 18 sports and be responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the Sports Communications office while also keeping statistics using TAS/StatCrew software. The candidate will write press releases, game stories, feature stories, game notes and manage the production of various media guides/brochures in a timely and effective manner. The Director of Sports Communications will also administer and manage the athletic website (www.gomajors.com) and direct audio/video streaming efforts while coordinating game day coverage, including public address announcing at various events.

A bachelor’s degree with minimum of three years experience in sports information in a collegiate sports information setting is required. The ability to work non-traditional business hours and necessary nights and weekends for competition is a must. The candidate must demonstrate strong writing, editing and interpersonal skills with working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop as well as website management through ICS Sidearm.Candidates must understand and embrace the Division III philosophy. Eligibility for employment is contingent upon the successful completion of background screening.
