The Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience will manage the day-to-day operations of the unit and be under the direct supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. This position will oversee the marketing plan development and implementation, ticket sales, sponsor activation and game presentation for multiple sports programs – including Football or Men’s Basketball – with a key focus on maximizing ticket revenue, increasing fan attendance and enhancing the Maryland Athletics brand.
Additional responsibilities include:
Oversight of the Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience & Associate Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience; Direct all on-campus marketing initiatives and relationships; Serve as campus Homecoming & Maryland Day Planning Committee liaison; Planning/promotion/execution of Red/White Spring Football game; Main point of contact for Terp Alley (Football Fan Fest); Partner with digital marketing and social media department to coordinate direct marketing campaigns; Collaborate with Video Services unit to create TV and radio spots as well as creative in-game video elements that maximize fan experience; Execute game day operations, fan development and revenue generation initiatives for Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball and various Olympic Sports; Direct involvement in creative fan engagement and branding initiatives; collaborate with the Athletic Ticket Office and the fan relationship management center (FRMC) to develop ticket sales campaigns and identify new prospects; Coordinate and negotiate all media partner trade contracts; Serve on External Operations Leadership Team and Management Team; Cheerleading, Band and Dance team liaison; and other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree required in sports management, marketing, advertising or related field.
Minimum of five (5) years of sports marketing experience required. At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Photoshop. Must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends.
Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of sports marketing experience preferably at the NCAA Division I or professional sports level. Experience marketing a basketball or football program also preferred.
